Jože Jazbec must have gotten (and ignored) quite a few comments when he decided to use teran as the basis for classic sparkling wine in te mid-80s. At that time, he successfully ran a family restaurant in Tupelče, so he was not too concerned about sales. When he introduced the first batch of sparkling wine in 1991, he exclaimed like a true resident of the Primrska region (Slovene Littoral): "Intanto sem jo naredil!" - After all, I made it. And that was the beginnin of the Chateau Intanto brand, with which he has been marketing the wine ever since. Today 2.2 hectares of refošk vineyards are cultivated with an integrated production of grapes and wine. The oldest vines are over 70 years old - like their owner.
