Château La Mission Haut-Brion

Château La Mission Haut-Brion’s vineyard straddles the communes of Talence and Pessac and is located only a few miles southwest of Bordeaux’s city center. It belongs to the Pessac-Léognan appellation, to the north of the Graves wine-growing region. The nature of the gravel at Château La Mission Haut-Brion, consisting of small stones of various types of quartz, is a key element contributing to the particularly valuable wine-growing potential of the soil. The vineyard covers an area of 29 hectares. Nearly 25 hectares are planted with red grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc) and just over 4 hectares are devoted to white grape varieties (Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc).

Crystal clear pale-yellow colour with green hues. The bouquet reveals incredible concentration with hints of ripe fruit enhanced by subtle, spicy overtones. Swirling in the glass enhances the white fruit aromas and reveals beautiful notes of aniseed. Starts out rich and broad-based on the palate, showcasing Sémillon in all its splendour! The wine then becomes smooth, exploding into a sappy, tight-knit and fruity finish with an impressively long aftertaste.

Beautiful deep, dark, red colour. La Chapelle has a nose of ripe black fruit and spice. It starts off very smooth on the palate, then gives way to a tannic structure which confirms the impression of weight promised by its deep color. Barrel ageing has imparted further softening to develop all the character of a great wine.

Barrel ageing has imparted further softening to develop all the character of a great wine. One of the characteristics of 2011 was an extremely dry spring. Based on the measured rainfall in April, May and June this was the driest spring since 1949.Happily, summer brought some rain which allowed the vine to continue its growth. With a dry September, we were able to harvest in optimal conditions.Blend :- Merlot Noir : 69% ;- Cabernet Sauvignon : 19% ;- Cabernet Franc : 12 %.Contains sulfites.

The bouquet is well-defined, complex, and intense, with overtones of black fruit (blackberry and blackcurrant) and spice. The rich, impressive tannic texture on the palate meshes beautifully with the wine's smoothness. A long aftertaste adds the final touch to beautiful balance.

Beautiful pale yellow colour with green highlights. The initial impression on the nose is elegant and fruity with notes of soft bread. Aromas of very ripe fruit, predominantly white peach, come to the fore with aeration. Starts out full-bodied on the palate with fruity notes, going on to reveal rich, round tannin. Overall, a very charming wine.
