Martinčič
A family company from the village of Šmalčja Vas near Šentjernej continues an over-a-century-old tradition of winemaking and grapevine grafting of their grandfathers, who managed that same land and discovered the grapevines in Lower Carniola provide noble wine. The Martinčič wines are very fresh, pleasant and fruity. They have a rich array of flavours and are particularly drinkable due to their gentle, consistent and fast processing of grapes. Because of the better ripeness of the grapes and the biological deacidification, which occurs spontaneously immediately after fermentation, it is hard to accuse the wines of the proverbially high acidity of the Lower Carniola region. They pay special attention to hygiene, so their wines need less sulphur and are therefore healthier. Even a day after a merry night, the head remains light and the thoughts clear.
