Vina Čotar

The Čotar family estate with its vineyards and wine cellar lies in the western part of the Karst region, in the village Gorjansko just 5 kilometres from the sea. In 1974, they dug the cellar’s first chamber into living rock and made two wines for the family restaurant, Teran and Kraško Belo, a white blend typical of the Karst. Their first wholesale bottle, the vintage 1988, was bottled in 1990. Their farm of 7.5 hectares is fully committed to organic farming and nature-friendly winegrowing. Wines are recognised by their fingerprint labels, expressing confidence and the Čotar quality, distinctive character and personality. The fingerprint is the winemaker’s symbolic signature.

It is reminiscent of spirited cherries, ripe plums and black currants, spices with a balsamic scent and a slight coffee note. The soft and full texture is mixed with gentle freshness and tannins. We notice a pleasant mineral note in the aftertaste.

Intense ripe fruit beech is complex and deep, we can find blueberries, raspberries as well as spices and coffee in the finish. Dense ruby red color with a slight garnet hue. The warm soft and mineral body is nicely rounded off with ripe tannins into a long and pleasant aftertaste.
