Sauvignonasse is one of the oldest as well as most widely planted varieties in the region of Goriška Brda and also Friuli-Venezia Giulia across the border. In the Goriška Brda, it is generally planted on mid- and low-lying sites, giving wines with a rich stricture and plentiful aromas. The intensive minerality is characteristic of wines made in this region. Sauvignonasse was in the past mostly used to make table wine, but today, it is able to develop the full potential of the terroir.
The colour is medium deep golden with a nice brilliance. Though young it is already open on the nose as well as compact, unite. White blossom, meadow flowers, wet stone and some ripe yellow fruits are present. A gentle presence of honey shows a bit of development, dried herbs in the back are hinting at the Sauvignonasse grape variety. Very dry and full bodied, with moderate but balanced acidities. Intense fruit character with plenty of character. Long, slightly “salty” finish. Youthful, bit rough now but already tasteful.

Tokata
The deep yellow colour reveals the high maturity and complex structure of the wine. The nose expresses an intense bouquet with ample fruitiness and minerality, alongside hints of citruses and white peach. On the palate, the wine is well-rounded and balanced, with a touch of almond in the finish.

The deeper golden-yellow colour indicates the high level of ripeness of the grapes. The wine’s bouquet is intense, surprisingly fruity and even overripe. The aroma of dry and fresh peaches and apricots blends with balsamic notes of Mediterranean maquis. It feels dry and robust in the mouth with distinct character of dry apricots. Its longer salty aftertaste and mineral content cleans the palate well. Malvasia definitely shows its varietal character. However, it is more the style of the Edi Simčič winery that is emphasized than are its varietal characteristics.The colour is medium deep golden. Slightly closed on the nose at first but then opens and gets opulent. This is not a Sauvignon Blanc in style of various primary tropical fruits, but rather in a riper, fuller style with restrained, but complex aromatic profile. Gooseberries, peaches, wet stone, buer. Dry on the palate, intense, full bodied with a good amount of ripe acidities. Oily texture with in intense and persistent flavour. A savoury Sauvignon Blanc which requires a well-chosen main dish. Can this one be compared with world classics? Hardly. Maybe it is close to Fumé Blanc from Napa but in fact it is in a style of its own, faithful Sauvignon Blanc from Brda. Edi’s!

A wine of gentle red colour. The nose is rich, reminiscent of forest fruits, especiallystrawberries and blackberries. The “crescendo” of red fruits comes to an end in a long aftertaste with gentler notes, reminiscent of a rhubarb compote with cinnamon, cloves, and lemon zest.

Intense garnet red colour. It displays varietal characteristics of all present varieties. Very complex aroma and flavour of ripe plums, forest undergrowth, pepper, graphite. A rich, soft, full body wine with an exceptionally long aftertaste and pleasing freshness.Hand harvest of very rape, biodynamic cultivated grapes for all varieties at same time. Four week maceration of crushed grapes, spontaneous fermentation with natural yeast already present on the grapes and malolactic fermentation. Two years maturation of the wine in traditional big old oak barrels. Bottling according to biodynamic calendar with minimal addition of sulphur without filtration.
