Here we have the first release in a new experimental series, a Colombian molasses rum from the wonderful La Hechicera with a somewhat unusual maturation. Serie Experimental No.1 rested in American white oak barrels for the majority of its ageing, with a finishing period in casks which previously held Muscat wine.

La Hechicera is a natural rum, as it has no additives or sugar, its noble flavors are only due to aging in excellent bourbon barrels. This is a traditional way of creating rum that does not require subsequent finishing touches. La Hechicera Reserva Familiar ages in the hot and humid microclimate of Barranquille, giving the rum its unique character. The flavors of rum are just as we expect: deep woody notes, a nose with a hint of caramel and orange peel, followed by a bold burst of flavors with distinctive notes of tobacco and roasted coffee. Finish is fresh and smooth.

Southern exposure. Top of the hill. Sun thoughout the day. Very rocky and opoka terrain, never lacks water. Planted 1980.Deeper golden-yellow colour with a pleasant shine. A gentle yet broad bouquet, rather aromatic on the nose for Rebula – just perfectly enough. Intertwining notes of dry grass, dry herbs, toast, hints of caramel, evenbuer. The sensations appear harmonious, compact.Dry on the palate, medium body, with a nice degree of mature acidity creating a stirring contrast in the mouth. The texture is somewhat oily, and the wine appears subdued and rich despite the full ripeness of the grapes. Intense on the palate, perpetually exciting the taste buds, long, crisp and clear finish. A firm Rebula destined for haute cuisine.

Don Papa Baroko is made on the island of Negros in the Philippines. It is the result of a blend with old rum distilled from molasses, known locally as "black gold" which comes from one of the many local mills on the island.Don Papa Baroko has aged for several years in American oak barrels. The Master Blender then selects the most expressive casks, those which best reveal the fruity and vanilla notes.
