Maison Champy runs a large part of its 21 hectares of vines on the Côte de Beaune organically in order to preserve and highlight the true character of this exceptional terroir. The importance of the environment means that every single treatment follows the practices of sustainable and organic farming. With three centuries of history and experience behind it, Maison Champy has established a precious know-how in the selection of rare and sought-after Burgundy crus.

There are only four Premier Crus Pinot Noirs: “Les Fichots”, “En Caradeux”, “Creux de la Net”, “Iles des Hautes et Basses Vergelesses”. Two new “clos” have also received the appellation Premier Cru: “Clos du Village” and “Clos Berthier”.Pale golden colour with hints of silver. Good aromatic intensity and good transparency. The nose opens on white flower, citrus and wild mint notes, with a mineral touch. Frank, fresh and elegant attack. On the palate, the wine is mineral, harmonious and rich, with a long and persistent finish.

Beaune is the capital of the wine-producing region of Burgundy as well as the most extensive communal AOC appellation in the Côte d’Or. The production of red wines covers an area of 368.74 ha including 281.49 ha of Premiers Crus. Most of the vineyards are located on pronounced slopes. Soil: limestone mixed with clays.Exposure of the vineyard: from East to South.A dark garnet color.An intense nose marked by a grilled reduction and smoky notes. Aromas of “gariguette” and wild strawberry. The palate is rich, fleshy, and very fruity.A wine with a great ageing potential. Use a decanter if you want to drink it young.
The vineyards of Pernand-Vergelesses are in a very hilly area, stretching over the slopes between Aloxe-Corton and Savigny-lès-Beaune. Pernand-Vergelesses has only six Premier Crus : “Les Fichots”, “En Caradeux”, “Creux de la Net”, “Ile des Vergelesses”, “Les Vergelesses” and “Les Plantes des Champs et Combottes”. This village is located at an altitude of between 250 to 350 m.Beautiful garnet colour. Aromatic, with sophisticated notes of spice. Some extracts of red fruit such as blackcurrant or cherry on floral notes of violet. On the palate, the attack is fresh and mineral with aromas of a well-balanced fruit. The wine is vibrant.
Red Burgundy is mainly produced in three French departments: Yonne, Côte d’Or and Saône-et-Loire. It is the northernmost part of that region that produces great red wines. The Pinot Noir varietal is at the basis of all red Burgundy appellations, from the most modest to the most prestigious.Dark ruby colour with purple highlights.The nose is very open, with notes of small black fruit and vanilla on a finely woody background.Fresh on the palate, supple and round.A lively and structured wine, with tannins that are present but coated.The finish is tart.
