The Clos de l’Oratoire des Papes is made from a 27-hectares vineyard that boasts a perfect balance between Chateauneuf-du-Pape’s three great soil types: the "Galets Roulés" or rounded pebbles, "Safres" or fine sand and "Eclats Calcaires" (limestone rock). In 1926 the vineyard becomes the Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes and gains a label design that has remained unchanged ever since.

The robe is intense burlat cherry with delicate ruby flashes.

Epoca is red wine of intense ruby red colour. Its scent is complex and clear, aromas of ripe berries, plum marmalade and a touch of vanilla prevail.Grapes are hand picked, de stemmed and left to macerate for 2-3 weeks. The fermented wine is decanted into 225 litre oak barrels where biological deacidification is performed, giving the wine a certain softness and elegance. The wine matures in barrels for at least 18 months.

Intense ripe fruit beech is complex and deep, we can find blueberries, raspberries as well as spices and coffee in the finish. Dense ruby red color with a slight garnet hue. The warm soft and mineral body is nicely rounded off with ripe tannins into a long and pleasant aftertaste.

Northern exposure. Heavier soil structure, opoka mixed with clay. A litle cooler vineyard - impact of northern wind. A lot of water in the terrain, never stressed in a dry periods. Planted 1987.Intense, almost deep golden-yellow colour. The nose is intense yet not overpowering, which can quickly affect a Sauvignon Blanc, rather it is mature and juicy, revealing ripe grapes grown in a moderate climate. Structured, reminiscent of gooseberry, white peach, hay, ripe tomato, a sliver of orange peel. The sensations all come together through fine, discreet notes, telling the story of ageing in oak.Dry on the palate, gentle acidity that nicely balances out and grounds its full body. The texture is oily, and despite a higher alcohol content, creates a pleasant tension serving up a luxurious aromatic profile. The taste lingers with a long, salty, dramatic finish.
