100% Chardonnay from a single site in the village Kozana. They managed to bring out what had been known for a while – this 25-year-old vineyard is so special, so different, that it deserves its own wine. The upper layer of soil is shallow, underneath there is a rocky bed which gives minerality to the wine. The elevated position preserves freshness. A wine with depth, breadth and length. A true expression of the vineyard and its position as it is produced in the same manner as our Chardonnay “riserva”. Its ageing potential is at least 10 years, perhaps more.
Striking golden-yellow colour with a brilliant shine. Almost discreet in its bouquet, yet the richness comes through with complexity and finesse, hinting of buer, wet stones, gentle fruity notes of peach, and caramel. Dry, rich and intense on the palate. The
texture is oily, the wine juicy, perhaps even slightly sweet. Despite the full body it is pleasant, harmonious and balanced. A wine vivid with potential, developing into a fine salty finish.

The “Signature” of our oenologist Dimitri Bazas, this Bourgogne Chardonnay comes from a selection of our best barrels of Chardonnay. The grapes are grown in the classic regions of Puligny, Meursault, and Rully. This harmonious blend gives it both the classic character of Chardonnay from the Côte d’Or and the floral elegance typical of the Côte Châlonnaise.Bright color, yellow gold with golden highlights. Strong aromatic intensity. The nose is rich and well opened, with notes of exotic fruits and white flowers, notes of caramel and vanilla on a background of toasted bread.Fresh on the palate, an opulent body, smooth and round.At the finish, a good aromatic persistence of the fruit, united with a good balance between the acidity and the roundness.

The deeper golden-yellow colour indicates the high level of ripeness of the grapes. The wine’s bouquet is intense, surprisingly fruity and even overripe. The aroma of dry and fresh peaches and apricots blends with balsamic notes of Mediterranean maquis. It feels dry and robust in the mouth with distinct character of dry apricots. Its longer salty aftertaste and mineral content cleans the palate well. Malvasia definitely shows its varietal character. However, it is more the style of the Edi Simčič winery that is emphasized than are its varietal characteristics.The colour is medium deep golden. Slightly closed on the nose at first but then opens and gets opulent. This is not a Sauvignon Blanc in style of various primary tropical fruits, but rather in a riper, fuller style with restrained, but complex aromatic profile. Gooseberries, peaches, wet stone, buer. Dry on the palate, intense, full bodied with a good amount of ripe acidities. Oily texture with in intense and persistent flavour. A savoury Sauvignon Blanc which requires a well-chosen main dish. Can this one be compared with world classics? Hardly. Maybe it is close to Fumé Blanc from Napa but in fact it is in a style of its own, faithful Sauvignon Blanc from Brda. Edi’s!
