On the nose and palate soil and smoke notes present as well as the elegance of aristocratic Louis Latour oak barrel. The wine is slightly tannic with preserved freshness.It is matured, ready to be enjoyed today but also suitable for aging 5 – 10 years.
Nikka uses two Coffey distillation boilers (named after its founder, Irishman Aeneas Coffey) at its Miyagikyo distillery. The boilers were imported from Scotland in 1963 and it is these boilers that give more flavor than modern grain whiskey boilers.The whiskey is a deep golden color, on the nose it is sweet with a hint of mango, papaya and orange peel. We notice notes of cinnamon, coconut and popcorn. The mouth is full of caramel popcorn flavor, with a hint of citrus and tropical fruits. Whiskey is full-bodied with a not-so-long aftertaste, dominated by rich oak and jam.
