This wine has a lemony-yellow colour with a slight greenish tint. The aroma exudes
notes of dried herbs, blossom, quince and apples. Dried fruits can also be recognised in the background. The taste is sweet with mature acidity, hints of dried figs and apricots, as well as spices and apples. The aftertaste is medium-long and accompanied by dried fruits and spices.
What happened in 1987?
This was a relatively dry vintage. The proper level of humidity afforded by the microclimate in the vineyard (humid nights and morning mists), enabled the welcome growth of noble rot, which starts to develop above sugar level 70°Oe. The vintage of 1987 perfectly illustrates the importance of a ‘healthy’ microclimate. The grapes, which are slightly wind-dried, contain concentrated sugar, acid and extracts. The wines of 1987, together with those of the previous year, proved to be of exceptional quality with a distinctive character. As far as quantity and quality were concerned, the vintage of 1987 was above average.
This was also the year that the company picked Welschriesling grapes on 6th January, which is known in Slovenia as ‘Vino treh kraljev’ (Epiphany).

Characteristic sparkling wine, produced according to the traditional method from the local variety Siphon, offers a sophisticated blend of fruity aromas of citrus fruits and ripe fruit. In color, it expresses gentle green-yellow shades, which end with a recognizable varietal flower and the elegance of the gentle sparkling of tiny bubbles. The taste is elegant and creamy, ending with a structured and distinctly complex aftertaste, which is the result of 36 months of maturation on yeasts. It goes well with smoked salmon, mussels, white meat and soft cheeses. It is also excellent as an aperitif.

Deep ruby colour with no garnet tinges. It combines the colour shade of two years younger Duet, and depth of Duet Lex. It gives a very young impression for its age. Careless taster might well be surprised by its nose. Kolos used to be big, bold and very ripe, but from vintage 2015, “less is more” slogan would describe it more accurately. Itis still very intense on the nose, though, unsurprisingly, a bit less compared to Duet Lex. Opulence, aromatic diversity and complexity are the keys here. Though fullyripe, freshness is still very much present as well as open fruitiness. Dry, with ripe, grippy, noble tannins and firm structure, which will allow for a slow and dependable maturation. The taste on the palate is layered, complex and acts like a well-played orchestra. Its aroma intensity, which is not a result of over ripeness or too much of new oak, full bodywhich is perfectly in line with ripe and refreshing acidities, supple tannins - all these are providing elegance and drinkability. So much important atributes for a classic wine lover who to enjoy his wine with food and is immune to critics scores. From vintage 2015 on Kolos is much more elegant and subdued wine very much like refined, completed edition of already sophisticated Duet Lex. Kolos is now colossal by many parameters. Muscles, full body and over ripeness are not among them. Kolos is a wine produced to be lay-down in a cellar. The patience will be well-rewarded. Nevertheless, Kolos is (almost) ready when released.
