Hello from wine cellar: Danilo Steyer, winemaker

The Steyers are the kings of Gewurztraminer, a variety to which they have dedicated their lives and which also prdominates in their winery. Their aim is to produce a wide range of Gewurztraminer wines, from regular vintage wines to special vintages. They are especially proud of their fragrant Steyer Vaneja sparkling wine, made using the traditional method.
Who was the greatest influence on your work and who inspired you to pursue winemaking?
My father.
Which of your wines are you most proud of?
All of them, they are all my children.
Which drink do you enjoy after a hard day in the cellar?
Water for thirst, and wine for strenght.
Who would you most like to meet among the world's influential figures?
Novak Đoković.

The bouquet resembles a rose, cloves, and as it matures, it resembles citrus fruits. Day or evening beautifies the corner independent wine, in cooking it requires the chef's ingenuity and imagination, as his characteristic smell and taste they quickly prevail. It matches nicely with the more spicy dishes and flavors of Asian cuisine, and white in generalpoultry meat (turkey, duck, chicken).

We can smell homemade plum jam, wild cherries, raspberries, vanilla, oak and tobacco. The plum jam aroma is also distinctive in the wine’s taste. Also prominent are red fruit aromas, which are nicely complemented by aromas of tobacco, dark chocolate and vanilla. The wine is pleasant and elegant, full-bodied, with refined tannins and a long aftertaste.
