The wine is ruby red colour and thick. The smell is intensive, fine and rather rich. We can sense the smell of overripe red fruit and berries (Morella cherry, blackberry, black currant, dried plums,dried figs,raisins and jam ). It tastes dry, warm and soft, pretty fresh, tannic and tasty, balanced, intensive, elegant and durable,harmonic, strong and ripe.

The wine is ripe and good to drink, but in years it will gain the harmony and drinkability. It will achieve its best after 10 years

Intense garnet red colour with violet hues. It displays varietal characteristics of Barbera. Very complex aroma and flavour of ripe blackberries, forest undergrowth, plums, graphite. A rich, full body with an exceptionally long aftertaste and pleasing freshness.Hand harvest of biodynamic cultivated grapes with sorting of grapes directy in the vinyard. Four week maceration of crushed grapes, spontaneous fermentation with natural yeast present on the grapes and malolactic fermentation. One year maturation of the wine in traditional big old oak barrels. Bottling according to biodynamic calendar with minimal addition of sulphur without filtration.

Zelen’s typical aromas cannot be confused with any other. It’s reminiscent of citrus and apples, with undertones of green herbs, particularly sage. As its aroma indicates, it is elegant and delicate on the palate, while rich and harmonious.Zelen is an indigenous variety that grows only in the Vipava area and nowhere else. Zelen was the first mentioned and described in the renowned book, Vinoreja, in 1844. The author, Matija Vertovec (Vertovez), the first expert in viticulture and winemaking in Slovenia and one of the more educated individuals of his day, characterised the varietal among the “more noble” white varieties. Since its yield, compared with other varieties, is small and demanding to grow, it was on the verge of extinction. Zelen is named after its characteristic bright green leaves and very green grapes.
