Nikka From The Barrel is a blended whisky which was released in 1985. The development of this expression started with an aim to deliver full flavors and richness of whisky like "from the barrel", which only blenders can sniff and taste. The secret behind its gorgeous flavor is the unique combination of complex blending, higher ABV 51.4% and "marriage" process.
The iconic square bottle reflects its concept "a small block of whisky" and embodies the intense and rich flavors of the whisky inside. Long after its launch, this bottle is still timeless and recognized for its ultimate simplicity.

Nikka uses two Coffey distillation boilers (named after its founder, Irishman Aeneas Coffey) at its Miyagikyo distillery. The boilers were imported from Scotland in 1963 and it is these boilers that give more flavor than modern grain whiskey boilers.The whiskey is a deep golden color, on the nose it is sweet with a hint of mango, papaya and orange peel. We notice notes of cinnamon, coconut and popcorn. The mouth is full of caramel popcorn flavor, with a hint of citrus and tropical fruits. Whiskey is full-bodied with a not-so-long aftertaste, dominated by rich oak and jam.

Distilled in a Coffey still normally used for grain whisky production, the malt is delightfully fruity and spicy.Nose: Fresh and clean, with aromas of candied lemon peel and rich cake spices.Palate: Robust and spicy, quite a dense mouthfeel and richly textured, with cinnamon and clove on the palate, and citrus-tinged freshness to lighten the load.Finish: Harmonious blend of dense spices, rich oak, and lemon and orange notes.
