Aperol was launched by the Barbieri company, based in Padua, in 1919 on the occasion of the Padua Exhibition - introducing the revolutionary idea of an aperitif with an alcohol content of only 11%. After the second world war, it really took off, becoming a major success in Italian homes and bars. Today it is enjoyed by over 3.4 million Italians and is available in every bar and main food retailer in the country.

The wine is yellow with a green tinge, medium-lasting foam with coarser bubbles. These are a source of natural CO2 and originate from a single point at the bottom of the glass. In the form of chains or they travel independently towards the surface and join at the edge. At the winery, the grapes are gently pressed and then undergo a slow fermentation process in stainless steel tanks using selected yeasts. The Charmat technique is used to produce this sparkling wine.
